Cold Years are back with the supercharged new single ‘Dread’, an aggressive yet emotion-laden anthem for uncertain times. The single heralds a new era of the band borne of 18 months of deep introspection following the band’s 2024 album ‘A Different Life’ (MNRK), the release cycle of which laid bare the inevitable cracks of 5 years of relentless musical output and touring.

Instead of breaking under the pressures of a decade in the game, the Scottish band have channelled their experiences into new music which they will release as an independent band for the first time since 2018's 'Northern Blue' EP.

‘Dread’ captures the anxiety and fear of living day-to-day contrasted with the comforts of friendship, family and relationships. Distilling these discordant notions, the track perfectly encapsulates the moment in a manner unsurprising to those familiar with the bands’ catalogue.

‘Maybe there’s a better way’ typifies the approach the band are taking; independent, in-control and producing music which embodies the re-ignited passion driving the 4-piece.

July will see the band tour the UK and Ireland with I Am The Avalanche followed by a series of (currently unannounced) headline shows at small, independent UK venues, with more singles planned throughout the remainder of 2026 and into early 2027.
