Poets of the Fall
Poets of the Fall captured a million-strong audience right from their debut single, when the atmospheric “Late Goodbye” appeared in the hit game Max Payne 2. The real breakthrough, however, came with their second full-length album. The title track of the platinum-selling Carnival of Rust became a defining hit for the band, and its music video has been viewed more than 70 million times on YouTube alone. "It was a major turning point for us. Two new albums on the charts at the same time - which, according to some sources, was the first time that had ever happened in Finland. We remember that period as chaotic but inspiring: we were working intensely on the record while still touring our debut Signs of Life,” the band recalls.
The timeless atmosphere of the album will return at the Carnival by the Sea anniversary concert at Allas Live in Helsinki on 4 September 2026. The seaside venue, known for its Ferris wheel, fits perfectly with the Carnival of Rust aesthetic. The show will be a special performance built around the album’s central theme, complemented by a selection of fan favourites from across the band’s long career. The path toward the autumn highlight will be built in part through new music releases.
The band will release a single featuring a track originally left off the Carnival of Rust album. In addition, a new anniversary edition of the record will be issued. Further details about the releases will be announced soon. Founded by Marko Saaresto, Olli Tukiainen and Markus Kaarlonen, Poets of the Fall blend elements of pop, rock, metal, and alternative industrial influences. In addition to the founding trio, the live lineup includes guitarist Jaakko “Jaska” Mäkinen, bassist Jani Snellman and drummer Jari Salminen.
The seven-time chart-topping band has been honoured with awards including MTV Europe Music Awards and Emma Awards. They also perform as their alter ego band Old Gods of Asgard, known from Remedy’s acclaimed games Alan Wake and Control.
