Belgian rock band Triggerfinger from Lier, near Antwerp, formed in 1998 built its reputation on raw, precise energy, blending alternative rock, hard rock, blues rock and stoner influences into a sound matched by intense live performances and a distinctly elegant stage presence.

The band's core has always been Ruben Block on vocals and guitar and Mario Goossens on drums and vocals. Bassist Wladimir Geels was replaced in 2003 by Paul Van Bruystegem, known to fans as "Lange Polle," who would go on to shape the band's sound for two decades.

Triggerfinger's catalogue includes the acclaimed albums Triggerfinger (2004), What Grabs Ya? (2008) and All This Dancin' Around (2010), the latter certified gold in both Belgium and the Netherlands. Their acoustic cover of Lykke Li's "I Follow Rivers," recorded live on Dutch radio in 2012, became a major European hit and pushed the band onto the international stage. The following year they opened for the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park, London, ahead of the release of By Absence of the Sun (2014). In 2017 the band signed with Mascot Records and released Colossus, an album that introduced new shades to their vintage sound.

After the Colossus touring cycle wrapped, Triggerfinger stepped back from two decades of near-constant touring. The break, originally planned as a pause, was extended by the pandemic and by Van Bruystegem's retirement in 2023 after twenty years with the band, due to health reasons. He was succeeded on stage by acclaimed guitarist Geoffrey Burton, known for his work with Grace Jones, Iggy Pop and Misia. Van Bruystegem passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 66.

Despite the upheaval, the creative spark between Block and Goossens never faded. Their return to the live circuit saw a 25-date tour across Europe, with the majority of shows selling out and confirming that the appetite for Triggerfinger's sound had never gone away.

That momentum carries into Tarmac, the band's sixth studio album, due September 18th 2026 via Sony Music and Hufter. Lead single "Through The Beam," released June 12th, was recorded and produced with Mitchell Froom, mixed by Tchad Blake and mastered by Matt Colton, and has already drawn praise from Rolling Stone UK, Clash and Classic Rock. Triggerfinger will spend the summer of 2026 on the festival circuit before launching an extensive Tarmac album release tour in October, with dates across Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Turkey.

Triggerfinger remain driven, in their own words, by the hunger to be on stage, to play music together, to feel those first two chords hit the right notes, and to witness the magic that transforms individuals into one band.
